Biography
Elizabeth (Betty) Sedat served forty-three years in Guatemala. Her call to missions came during a one year post-college visit to Guatemala to help missionaries in music. Betty saw the need of the Indians and completely consecrated herself to God’s will and returned there to help in the Indian work. Betty is multilingual, speaking Spanish, Kekchi, and Pokomchi.
Betty’s ministry included Bible translation, all phases of Linguistics work (dictionaries, grammars, hymnals, readers, reading, Sunday School lessons, etc.), council jobs of Bible school teaching, bookkeeping, bookstore, running clinic, Bible and Pokomchi New Testament distribution, coordinated Pokomchi translation after the death of her husband, William Sedat, and 11 years with Indian Team.
Though retired, Betty serves the residents of Royal Oaks Manor (independent living) and Bradbury Oaks (care unit) as local mission fields. Her prayer request is for mobility and strength to visit these needy areas and have more of the Holy Spirit's leading to give a vital testmony.
Betty has four children and four grandchildren, and enjoys corresponding with friends and LINKS.
